Protection Checker for CDC Eviction Moratorium

Eviction Moratorium that checks your county against best available CDC provided data

By A2J Tech

To get the stand alone app up and running, here are the steps to get it running for yourself.

Also included is a copy of the version we are running on https://www.covid19evictionforms.com/

and shows how we have it tied into the rest of the site, if you want to use this code for your own applications.

To get this set up, its as easy as 1, 2, 3. The videos below should help with that process.

Videos:

1. Downloading the app from a marketplace

2. Populating the Data Tables

3. Adding data to your dataset

1. You are doing now if you are reading this.

2. You will need a .csv file for all of the states, and another list of the counties, listed by state.

To get these files:

Log into portal:

https://development-account.afterpattern.site/#/sign_in

as username:

file@file.com

with password:

Filefile1!

3. This will be a manual checking of the CDC website, and downloading, adding an ID column to the data, then uploading to Afterpatten. This would be checked on a daily basis.

  • With the new CDC dataset, you will need to go to the CDC website to download the data. Choose "COVID-19" for content, "Phased Prevention" for indicator, "Levels of Community Transmission" for measure, and "National by County" for geography type.
  • You can still follow the video on how to upload the new data. The "Cases" column will be left blank with this new dataset.
  • After finishing the upload, you need to take into account Puerto Rico. It's municipalities / counties have special characters that Afterpattern was unable to import properly, and will show up as a question mark symbol. To correct this, select "Filter" on the CDC data table. Column = "State", Operator = "equals", and Value = "Puerto Rico". Make sure to change the question symbol to the appropriate special character for the county. You can use wiki as a quick reference but it's also available on the excel spreadsheet you just downloaded. Remove the filter when you're done.
